Lead in Water Testing Plan

Introduction and Purpose

Avalon School is committed to providing a safe and healthful learning and work environment for all our students and staff. We recognize the importance of protecting our students and staff from potential lead exposure.

Lead in Water Testing Plan

Each year, Avalon School will notify parents and staff of the Lead in Water testing plan and will inform them that sampling reports and corrective actions are available for review on the Avalon School webpage. Parents and staff may also request a copy of the information from Tim Quealy at tim@avalonschool.org

For the 2023-2024 school year, two science teachers in both the middle school and high school are testing for lead and water quality throughout the building.  Students will report their results to the Avalon School Board in March 2024 and a notice will be sent out to families.

The Lead in Water Testing Plan annual notice is updated annually.  Starting July 1, 2024, Avalon School will report their test results and remediation activities to the Minnesota Department of Health in a form and manner determined by the commissioner in consultation with school districts by July 1 of each year.

The commissioner of health must post and annually update the test results and remediation efforts on the Minnesota Department of Health website by school site.

*Lead Testing was conducted on site during October of 2023. As was reported to the School Board in November, no lead was found.*
